Discover the Natural Wonders of Naivasha

Set off on a peaceful boat ride on Lake Naivasha & explore Crescent Island — plus, visit a fascinating cultural museum!

About Your Trip

Get in touch with your wild side as you discover the spectacular beauty of the Great Rift Valley. After gliding down Lake Naivasha, get ready to encounter natural Kenyan wonders and see zebras, giraffes, hippos, gazelles, buffalo, birds and more in their natural habitat. Feel the cool breeze on your face as you take a refreshing boat ride to Crescent Island, where you’ll be treated to a guided walk through the game park. This tranquil island sanctuary boasts more animals per acre than any other park in Kenya.

Back at Enashipai Resort & Spa, learn about the Maasai people and their captivating culture with a visit to the on-site Maa Museum, Kenya’s first private museum. During leisure time, lounge by the large outdoor pool or walk through the lush gardens and down to Lake Naivasha for some bird-watching. Kids can enjoy the indoor and outdoor playgrounds while adults play tennis, shoot some hoops or try the golf putting green. Each night, head to the on-site Wave Nightclub to dance the night away.

What we love:

• Lake Naivasha was once home to Joy Adamson, best known for writing the 1960 best-seller “Born Free” about her experience raising an orphaned lion cub named Elsa.
• There is no fence around Crescent Island, allowing wildlife to come over from the mainland as they are displaced from their habitats by land development and population growth.
• Freshwater Lake Naivasha has the highest elevation of the Rift Valley lakes at 6,181 feet (1,884 meters) above sea level.
• To maximize your enjoyment, download the DreamTrips™ app to access DreamTrips Local — then earn points on dining, entertainment, spa experiences & more at select spots recommended by DreamTrippers just like you!

Destination

Naivasha is a small market town on the edges of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya. Thanks to the diverse natural attractions of the area — from scenic lakes to picturesque nature reserves — Naivasha is a popular destination for those wishing to take a break from the busy city life in Nairobi. On the shores of peaceful Lake Elmenteita (a UNESCO World Heritage site) are white pelicans, pink flamingos and grazing zebras and buffalo. Hell’s Gate National Park is a walkable park with hiking trails through the spectacular scenery of gorges and rock towers.

Floriculture, in addition to tourism, is an important industry in the area, providing cut flowers — mostly roses — to be shipped to Europe and around the world. The blend of fresh lake water with rich, fertile soil and sunny days has resulted in successful flower farms such as Oserian that prepares more than a million stems per day to be exported.
